Struggling to stay in this world

So my partner is in prison and his ‘mate’ was staying will me to help me overcome my depression and anxiety whilst he is in prison. Yesterday I found out that my partners ‘mate’ has stole items from our home, I confronted him and he denied it, and I haven’t seen him since I confronted him, I struggle to be on my own at night because my anxiety gets real bad. But my friend stayed with me last night because I didn’t want to be around anymore because the depression took over me and I was in a proper state, but she won’t be tonight, Does anyone else suffer from this? How can I overcome this?

Hello tashii and welcome to this supportive community. Sorry to hear of your difficulties and we hope that you managed to get some sleep last night. Had you been suffering from anxiety and depression before your partner went into prison? Are you receiving any treatment? Please let us know how you are getting on.

Take care and best wishes

I only get nervous late at night when I'm alone in the dark.

Have you sat down and thought long and hard about why being alone at night makes you nervous? Did some past event trigger this? Are you seeing a therapist to help you get better?

Could you adopt a pet? Then you'd have someone to keep you company at night. My dog used to snuggle at the foot of my bed. If you can't adopt, maybe temporary pet fostering until they find a permanent home.

I hope you're okay. Hopefully your partner won't be gone for long.

I hope you are feeling more relaxed and slept better last night. If I found myself in a similar condition, it may be just that you are lonely and it will take time to get used to being alone.

Your friend seemed to have use your trust against you, and depending on what was stolen has played against your trusting nature toward you. Depending on the theft the loss could be reported to the Police. However We cannot really walk in your shoes and we do not know the dynamics and attitude of the people you are mixing with.

Have you discussed your problems with your GP, your lonely and getting depressed.

However is your problem depression or Anxiety or just been on your own, this will clear given time.

How long is the prison sentence ??. What was the offence ? Sometimes people mix with like minded people, could this be the case with friend and boyfriend, if so it may be you need to consider your future now, and any expectations you may have
