New to fluoxetine

Hi all

I have just started fluoxetine as a last resort as I go I am currently unable to access therapy. I have only been taking it for 2 days and lucky I haven’t had any unpleasant symptoms yet. However, I have experienced an increase in my anxiety and this morning I sobbed uncontrollably for half an hour and I just didn’t know how to stop. I understand from some research that it’s possible to get worse before you get better but I was just interested in hearing real peoples experiences with this.

Many thanks.

Hello Gym19

Thank you for your post and welcome to this group.

I am sorry that you were sobbing earlier. You are correct that this medication will take a few days and possibly weeks to get to the maximum efficacy.

You could go to your doctor and explain how you feel especially if you get similar feelings again.

Our members are very supportive so they may have some personal experience they can share..

The topics and pinned posts might have more information to help.

Let us know how you get on and keep in touch.

Best wishes

Yes, that is one of the beginning side effects, I felt extremely nervous/Shakiness and agitated when I first started taking the fluoxetine. It will continue for some time until your body gets used to it.
