Hi, I was put onto disability 6 months ago. I never thought I would have to use it but here I am.

My questions, do they reevaluate people every three years? What happens during a re-evaluation?

Also, Anyone been on disability, then was able to get off of it only to relapse? How would all that work?

Thank you in advance for answering my questions.

Have a blessed day!

It all depends on the health concern you have. Also the number of points given for your Health Concern.

In other words they may consider a further assessment in three to six months, OR less.

How old are you ?.

Is your Health Concern only a Depression etc.

The situation is quite fluid.

Hi there,

Is SSI USA based or UK? The reason I ask as that they are different systems and rules will differ. In UK if a person is award Personal Independence Payments (PIP) formerly Disability Living Allowance (DLA), they are awarded this for a differing time periods and on a points-based system, see tinyurl.com/ybvkcrn5

It is a complicated process and I would suggest if you are UK based to speak to your local Citizens Advice Bureau who give free, impartial and expert advice.

If you are living outside the UK then you need to research your country's disability benefit rules.Sorry not to be more helpful.

SSDI is tricky, it is there to help you during hard times. The only problem is it is very easy to become complacent. Working to get better is a priority because who wants to live in poverty. Each state has different guidelines so the requirements can change frequently. I was on SSDI, went to a certification program and got a job at Tiffany and co as a jeweler, then a lead jeweler. Now I own my own buisness, but it took a lot of hard work, mental and physical. For lack of a better analogy, I view life like a battle I could not lose. I decided I was going to suffer, and fought through it.
