To much weight gain!!

I’ve tried several anti depressants, most made me feel awful in different ways. They all made me gain weight, hunger I can’t ignore, or cravings!!! I feel mentally stable on Effexor but I’m getting fatter and fatter!!!!! I didn’t take yesterday’s pill. I really hate being fat :-( my dr basically said, what’s more important? Your weight or your mental state?? There must be a way to have both??? It’s not like I lay around watching tv all day, I work 5 days a week, physical work.. also walk my dog. I’m doing at least 12000 steps a day, sometimes 20000!!! That’s roughly 10 miles a day.

Hi CammyLinda,

I didn't get on well with that drug either.

I don't know if you've tried keeping a food journal. I did a really detailed one where I checked all the packages and also to start with weight out mybportion sizes.

I found that looking into the types of diet and cutting out all potatoes, pasta, bread, wheat products really helped. I also cut out all alcohol and sweets and crisps as well.

It takes time to work out what foods you need to remove in order to gain that weight loss.

I also stopped eating all processed foods and did batch cooking and freezing of meals.

I know it is difficult if you are leading a busy life, but worth doing. I have recently put weight back on and that is because I have gotten lax with my diet so I need to go back and do another review and take out all the wheat products from my diet again.

Hope you can find the solution that works for you.

Take care.

Thanks for your advice. The thing is, I know exactly what I am doing wrong!!! I’m being a greedy hungry pig lolllll. I can’t control it though. I also stopped smoking in January but I use a vape instead. I still consume 12mg of nicotine, I thought this would help me control over eating!!! Day 2 without my pill. I hope I don’t fall back down the big black hole.

Xx

Hi I stopped smoking last August but now substitute food for it instead. I am also a greedy hungry pig and am craving sweet foods endlessly! I have put on around 3 stone. I wonder if it is a side effect of quitting smoking?

Anyway I have joined Weight Watchers to give me a push into starting to control my eating. x

Mmm... it’s hard to tell? I did turn into a greedy fat pig last time I quit smoking though. I presumed vaping would be ok. I know people who switched and they are still slim but not taking the pills xx Good luck with weight watchers 👍🏻

Thank you. Good luck with losing weight too. x

I take AD drugs and Pain medications of various sorts, I also take a further AD that helps me not to suffer nerve pain throughout My Body so I suffer at least a triple weight increase because of the drugs I need to take.

You could ask your GP to arrange a diet you can try, there are various options your GP can introduce you to, however there seems to be the attitude that you cut down on food intake. Many here will agree with you regards weight gain and AD MEDICATIONS.

I await any suggestions

Thanks for your reply. I think most of us know what we should and shouldn’t eat. I even woke up twice in the night last night to go pack slabs of chocolate in. This is getting ridiculous:-(
