Venlafaxine

Morning everyone, just looking for some personal experiences from anyone who from citalopram to Venlafaxine, I was weaned off citalopram 40mg (it no longer helped) now I'm on the double dose of venlafaxine 37.5mg, while I was being weaned off I felt great, clear thinking less sleep and tiredness ect but since I've started these new pills I sleep all the time I feel sick and horrible and feel like I've just dived bombed back to not coping, I know your supposed to give tablets time ect but can anyone shine a light on this tablet being OK? Do check out your Patient Information Leaflet (PIL)medicines.org.uk/emc/files/... - inside your medication box, as you will see that it contains important information about your new medication and safety information:

"Venlafaxine may not start to work immediately. Some people taking antidepressants may feel worse before feeling better. Your doctor may ask to see you again in a couple of weeks after you start treatment and then regularly until you start to feel well again. Tell your doctor if you do not start to feel better."

Do give it time for your body to adjust, Citalopram is an SSRI (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor), whereas Venlafaxine is an SNRI (Serotonin and Noradrenaline Reuptake Inhibitor).

I find venlafaxine a really good medication I have been on it for 3 years

Hi. I'm taking venlafaxine 150mgs twice daily & have no side effects. You should mention this to your Doctor & they will prescribe another antidepressant.

Thanks guys, I think I'm finally adjusting to it, I've been taking it at night time to see if that limits the side effects, I have the docs next week for a progress thing, so I'll hang on till then, if your on 150mg twice daily what is the limit for this one? Citalopram was 40mg and I was on that for years before I asked for a change as it wasn't doing any good anymore, for now I'm still below what I'd say is my normal line x
