Three good things at work.

I try to stay positive but often find my inner critic takes over. The negative self talk can spiral into all sorts of self doubt and the depression kicks in.

I have heard, and tried to practice, thinking of three positive things morning and evening to set me up for each day and the next.

Sometimes it works.

I have just found an article from the Harvard Business Review stating reflecting on three good things at work does make a difference.

The article does encourage you to write it down as you reflect but just reflecting helps too.

My three things today:

1. My time on here today hopefully helping others.

2. Walking the dog and noticing my mind stayed calm

3. A chat with a work colleague seeking my help. I was needed.

Have a great weekend

Dave

Regarding the "inner critic," telling yourself positive things helps, for example, "view the world as positive and resourceful!"; however, it is not a long-lasting and robust solution. There is a powerful reason we set our inner critic in our brain (like a bit of computer programming). It's to TRANSFORM us into a better person. While you're developing your talents, skills and abilities, remind yourself to accept and tolerate delays, problems and suffering. Re-program your inner critic to be more "realistic." Becoming good and competent at a task requires a great deal of time, mistakes and learning... Tell your inner critic to relax. Hope this helps. ;)
