My view on this, most people don't worry about whether they are "normal" or not if they are reasonably untroubled/content/happy whatever.

There do seem to be some social "norms" roughly speaking that we need to adhere to but they can be pretty wideranging. "Normal" mood , well I'm not sure as we can't get inside each other's heads (no technology for that just yet) but I do think there is a range of moods that most people experience with some others experiencing slightly more at different ends of different scales.

Gosh you got me thinking there. There are multiple answers to that. Why do you ask gardengnome??

---perhaps it is just a case of "normals" being less intense...

i suppose at the moment i am pretty much doing an imitation of a human yo-yo in terms of mood, sometimes normal seems like a speeding car to a hitch-hiker,

No - there isn't normal, there are just some norms of behaviour we all have to adhere to and after that we are all a bit eccentric, some more so than others. So long as you do not harm yourself or others intentionally you are normal! x

Normal is just a word that describes what society deems expected behaviour. That doesn't mean it's not ok to step outside of it. The world would be a very boring place if everyone behaved the same.

Hey Lucy34 i like what you say there, & it is what society deems expected behavior..So anyone who dares to be different is deemed to be weird/eccentric not normal, when actually it's those ones that are the normal ones..So not only is it great to be different to all the others, I'd say it was essential for our own growth..

you have a good point which I have brought up with my doc loads of times, what is normal, as we are all different we act different and what you see as normal others don't and what they see as normal you may not. Hope you get what what I'm saying.

i suppose what i meant at the time of writing was what is it even like to feel normal?, it has been such a roller-coaster month that i have not even been sure that i really am level when i am, is it just a passing illusion? anyway i'm off out now to do some pruning and mowing, at least some things are predictable, like.... weeds grow...

Well your always changing & hopefully flowing through life gardengnome, & as Bruce Lee said it's about continuous growth..So don't try to pin down what is normal for you, as the more you experience different things the more you will change which is vital..Hopefully you will start to find all the things you love doing & as you find & then do all those things, "that" will become your normal..It won't be normal by other peoples standards, because most other people chase & desire possessions in pursuit of happiness which then end up possessing them..Things we love doing is what we should all be trying to do, because it's that which leads us to contentment..So as our body changes every day we can only really be defined by our actions, which in turn are influenced by our morals & standards..So trying to pin down what's normal for you would be like trying to hold a large football under water, when it would be far better to release the football & see where normal takes you..I like to look at life as not a passing illusion, but we're all down here as new souls in the making, & we're all in training. :-)
