Epididymitis or something else?

Hi everyone, bit embarrassed to be even posting this, but just a bit worried, very worried in fact.

So bit of a back story first, a few weeks ago I started noticing that after I went to the toilet for a wee, mainly at night, I was feeling as though I needed to go again, but not in the usual way, like I wasn’t feeling the urge to way in the pelvic area, but more so isolated to my penis, and especially the tip of the penis. Thought nothing of it to begin with but it started happening more often and lasting throughout the day, so went to the drs, they dipped my wee, and did a blood test for my PSA levels and Kidney function, all came back clear and normal. They recommended I took some sachets for cystitis, so I did and after a couple of days these symptoms went away.

But during this time I was also getting a dull ache feeling, in my ball bag and my groin area on my left side that would radiate into my hip and into my lower back on my left side. Similar pain to ball ache after impact but not as severe. This has remained even after my other symptoms have gone away, but I have also noticed my left testicle seems larger than normal, and significantly larger than my right testicle. I can’t feel any lumps and it feels smooth but feels as though the shape is slightly different and definitely larger, and it seems to be sitting higher in my sack than usual, so I have seen the dr this morning regarding it, and after an exam he has put me on a two week course of antibiotics of doxycycline and is arranging for me to have an ultrasound, he has said that it would be very unlikely that it is cancer, he wants the ultrasound to check for any cysts and as to what’s causing the testicle to be larger than the other, but he has given me the antibiotics as he was also thinking that it is epididymitis.

I struggle really bad with health anxiety as it is, and I just want to know if anyone has also had any similar experiences to what I’m having at the moment and what your diagnosis was and if I should be worried really.

Thanks everyone

I experienced this kind of pain about 20 years ago, visited the docs and was told that my vas deferens had swollen up due to an infection, which was relieved by antibiotics. I've also just been circumcised about 9 weeks back now, so I can also relate to groin pain in general. It sounds like you're doing the right thing with all your medical consultation - got my fingers crossed for a comfortable resolution for you.

Yeah I think that’s what epididymitis is, I’ve just googled swollen vas deferens and that’s what came up, so I’m hoping that’s all it is and it’s not anything cancerous. Thank you for replying 👍🏻
