If you receive stitches, salt baths for the wound help promote healing and reduce infection risk.
Once the wound has healed, some guys use the special silicon gel for post op scars and/or Bio Oil. Ask your surgeon whether either will be good for you.
Far out...are friction blisters a thing?
That must be why my surgeon told me to use vaseline at the tip post op to avoid sensitivity/friction issues.
Wearing underwear that reduces unnecessary friction can help in the recovery phase. Most guys opt for snugger options and ditch boxers for this period. Microfibre or silky synthetic material is less irritating than cotton. Seamless in the pouch is also recommended.
All the advice I've seen is that the better care you take of yourself post op, the sooner you will recover. And the surgeons always underscore that you must abstain from sex/masturbation for up to six weeks post op or you risk splitting the wound and seriously setting back the whole healing process.
I can understand why: nasty! Dealing with the wound and bruising will be more than enough. But if we take precautions hopefully we'll avoid blisters.I've read that sometimes the glans skin peels off. I suppose that's why the surgeon insisted I invest in a good tub of vaseline.
To avoid too much of a mess in my jocks, I'm also investing in a box of sterile gauze pads to keep the petroleum jelly applied to the head from spreading!
This is what the clever guys do apparently. Plus low friction snug fit u/wear to keep the ol'fella upright and pointing to the navel (helps lymph drainage and brusing reduction) - as long as that position is not painful/uncomfortable.
Some guys say that in the first two weeks after, wearing nothing below (no u/wear or shorts/trousers) is the most comfortable - not practical for the whole two weeks sadly!
I have had great success in controlling, and hopefully now curing what I believe to be BXO by adjusting my diet, no sugar or dairy, and taking a pre and probiotic capsule twice a day. Now I have no more itching, although the white discoloration is still there. I avoid yeast extract, as this causes flare ups. For me, bad gut health is the reason for my problem. I really hope this information can be of some help to others, after monitoring and evaluating this for the past 3 years, and doing lots of research, I may possibly have this thing sorted at last!
Hey I used some non adhering dressing and some gauze bandage with a fastener. The non adhering one on first to stop the wound from sticking to your bandage and then the gauze to wrap around it. I preferred to keep the wound dry and not use Vaseline. Once the wound is healed I just wore the gauze bandage to protect the glans while I was working it stopped the friction with clothes on till the glans adjusted and desensitized.
