hi guys am having circumcision done this Tuesday as I have phimosis stage 4 am 28 years never been able to see my head of penis am freaked out ! Is the procedure painful what is it like after ? What will my penis look like ? So afraid

hi mate, I’m also 28 years old and just had circumcision through nhs for the same reason. I am just coming up for week 4. I had my surgery under local anaesthetic I was so scared for it knowing I would be awake but it was totally fine it’s honestly nothing to stress about. Healing wise most of my stitches burst and the wound opened up due to night time erections while sleeping. They could be pretty painful. I was so stressed seeing my wound open up after the first week but coming up for week 4 almost all of the wound is closed up and healing well. My advice is to try not stress over how it looks for a few weeks. You will feel really sensitive with the head being exposed for the first time, I tried to start wearing boxers again after around 10 days to try get used to it for being back to work. Good luck mate. thanks for your reply unfortunately I had to pay for my circumcision because nhs given me a consultation not until may and probs surgery will be any where before Christmas. The reason for my asap is because for past 2 weeks I have this burning sensation that doesn’t go away inside my penis I don’t know why. I ranged a urologist abroad he said that it’s inflammation probably inside but they never told me in uk that I could actually use like beta dine to try and wash it inside with a ear stick and just ant bacterial that first. Nightmare mate. Do you know if you had it done with a scalpel or scissors or laser by any chance ? Thanks for you reply am still panicking

ah right I see mate, I’ve been on the waiting list for 2 years to have it done through the nhs. Only reason I got it done the now was becuase i agreed to having it done awake otherwise I would be waiting longer. I’m honestly not sure how it was done there was a screen in front of me to stop me seeing it. Youl be totally fine mate I was shitting it in the waiting room I was there for hours before having it done, but as soon as I was in the operating room getting done I was so chilled out mate it’s honestly not to bad. Youl be glad once it’s all done and a few weeks in. Just need to have some patience with the healing process.

hey John. Best of luck. I'm 6 weeks post op. I was never able to pull back my skin either. PM me and I'll happily pass on my experience and advice on reciver. The actual op under local was fine. No pain during it at all. 20 minutes approximately.

I meant recovery not receiver in my last message. Mine was scalpel. My surgeon does about 100 a year!

I read your comment below and it sounds like you should tell the surgeon the symptoms you're having, get checked for UTI, thrush, or STI to make sure that's not the reason for your burning. It may not be a good idea to get surgery if you have an active infection. If your skin isn't fused to the head, you may be able to try topical steroids or dorsal slit procedure to loosen things up if you're not all in on circ. Definitely discuss any symptoms with a doctor to make sure there's not more going on. I don't see how the foreskin could be the cause of pain unless it's with erections or sexual activity
