LS / BXO

Hello All,

Greetings! Previously, I have run the fact that I had Lichen Sclerosis (aka BXO) and you have wished me luck. Thanks.

Basically I had circ due to phimosis. In a follow-up after the circ, my urologist said that my skin did not look right and said that the whitish skin near the meatus was LS. I did not have any pain or itching so I did not suspect anything at the time. Actually I had not even heard of it.

He put me on Clobetasol (0.05%) for a few months. Roughly a week ago, I went in again for a follow up and the urologist asked if I had any burning sensation or other kinds of pain or problems with urination. I said no because I did not. I told him that if I had pain, then that at best was random and lasted for just a few seconds. That was very occasional. So he told me that for now, he would take me off the Clobe and we would just watch and see how things go. Too much of the Clobe can also thin out your skin too much. (I've had a little flaking and peeling likely due to it.)

The Issue ~~> Anyway its been perhaps about 10 days, and I find that if I wear tight or somewhat heavier slacks such that my penis rubs against the clothes, then I do get pain. Its not acute, but its annoying and basically in the LS area. If I am just sitting and reading the paper or something, then I don't feel anything. However if I walk and start climbing stairs... I start feeling a mild pain when it rubs.

I am wondering if I should consult the doc again. However I suspect he will say to wait and that my penis still needs to adjust to a new post-Clobe environment. Have any of you had this experience after a steroid course. Is it to be expected that you will still have some pains after you get off the steroid? Is there like an adjustment period after where you can still feel "little pains" and it still be normal?

Have you considered seeing a dermatologist? They can be a better choice for LS

Hi Man, I'd see how it goes for a little while hopefully the discomfort will settle. You don't have any problems urinating that good it's just the discoloration to the meatus the rest of the glans is ok?

I would have a chat with a dermatologist for there opinion your GP can refer you there.

Hopefully it will all settle down and the LS won't progress anymore now you have been circumcised and you had a course of steroid cream.

Other than the white spot near that creeps up near the base of my meatus - and which thankfully seems not extend into the urethra, my skin looks pretty good. It looks fresh. There is some mild peeling/flaking. I think that that is due to the Clobe. There is also a part that is hard. It used to be much harder, but thinner now. But visually it looks fine.

I think I will also look into getting a dermatologist's opinion. Thanks a lot!

One of the benefits of this forum, is that you get a patient's side view of things. The experiential side.

That's good Man I'd be quite optimistic about everything now that you have been circumcised and you've had a course of steroid cream hopefully it will improve try not to worry or get stressed about it and a healthy lifestyle helps. It does take time I still have one area that is very faded but is there just below the meatus it hasn't changed any in a long time🤞🏻 so keep positive.
