Hello ,
I have two questions. I am in Korea and have been hearing different things from several different urologists that I have been to. I was hoping someone here could provide me with some insight on my situation.
Around 4 months ago I noticed a small black dot on my penis shaft which I thought was either a mole or a hair follicle. I tried to remove it by squeezing and scratching it which made it bleed and it eventually grew into bigger whitish bumps. My first guess was that it was genital warts so I went to see a urologist.
The first urologist I went to, performed an HPV test with a cotton swab on both the wart area and the glans. 1 week later the test results said that I was positive for HPV 33 (high risk) and 44 (low risk)
Now to my first question. I have done a lot of research online and according to the cdc website there is no HPV test for males, however most of the urologists here in Korea offer HPV tests, which made me wonder if there actually is an hpv test for males but is not done in America?
My second question concerns the treatment for HPV. After being tested positive for HPV some urologists have told me to take gardasil 9 as treatment to the high risk HPV. Would taking the vaccine be effective?
Thank you very much!
