I have phimosis. I recently had sex and the foreskin came off the head. Couldn’t really get it back on but the glands were so sensitive it hurt every time I tried carrying on in sex. Does. Anyone know how to loosen it? I think the glands are sensitive because it’s not been exposed before. Any advice will help. Rather not go to a doctors. I’m 19.

I think you know you will need to go to a doctor about this at some time. So don’t put off the inevitable.
PS: it’s glans not glands.
How far can you comfortably retract when erect?
I have same problem like u before . I done cercumsicion. Its been 36 days ago
Hi Naffydude,
You could try gentle stretching exercises in the first case. When you are showering or bathing try inserting a finger from each hand into the end of the foreskin and gently apply pressure to stretch the opening. You can also pitch the skin and pull from the outside initially. Also use a neutral moisturiser like e45 or epaderm both inside and out.
The stretching should not result in any pain but the pressure should be firm. Ideally you would do this 2 times a day for about 5 mins in 30 seconds episodes.
You could also try using longer strokes when masturbating so that the foreskin is being stretched by glans. Again be firm but gentle and use lube or moisturiser. This should both stretch and help you desensitise. Do not force the foreskin over the glans, it should be a natural evolution to that point.
If you do get the foreskin caught behind the glans, apply gentle pressure with a cupped hand to the glans to reduce the blood pressure, possibly under cold water, then release the foreskin with pressure from below. Do not force it! Do not panic.
There is a Reddit group called Phimosis which has some useful information on stretching.
I wish you all the best.
A steroid cream can be prescribed by a doctor to assist the stretching process. This guy needs to see a doctor for a proper assessment.
Yes, ideally he does however he made it clear he did not want to see a doctor at this stage and another respondent had already suggested this option. Stretching can achieve results with or without the use of topical steroids although betamethasone will facilitate matters however again, it’s requires a prescription and the involvement of a doctor.
And one of the main messages in men’s health is to use your doctor. Too many men are afraid/unwilling to go to a doctor and that needs to change.
Whilst I agree completely with encouraging men to use doctors, if we reduce all comments to “see a doctor”, I question the value of the site. Would you be more comfortable if all comments were to include a standard statement around seeing a doctor?
What the site is not is a replacement diagnostic and treatment centre. It is to support men’s health. I would hope that members would bear that in mind when supporting others and, within their support, encourage the place of healthcare professionals in our healthcare.
I have not proposed that it is, however simply encouraging a member to visit a doctor rather than sharing personal experience and, quite possibly, somewhat specialised knowledge so acquired, would appear to be missing an significant opportunity.
You suggested a way of dealing with this issue without any mention of a doctor. In the case of the OP, your suggestion/treatment plan could, on examination, be totally contraindicated. Be careful.
Hi Naffy
I apologise that your thread has been hijacked by this broader discussion of the role of site.
As Osidge, the moderator, has observed, it would always be preferable to consult a doctor.
However, it would also be worth noting that many men, including myself, have resolved the relatively mild phimosis you have described following the steps I have outlined which are to be found on a number of sensible websites and forums.
I wish you all the best, and again apologies.
