How long did you have to wait for your circumcision op from your pre op appointment with the doctor? Iv been to see a doctor who took a look down there to confirm I need to be circumcised ( balanitis/phimosis ) briefly discussed the risks/what would happen on the day of the procedure.... told me they would be in touch and that was around a month ago, gonna call and check they have the right address for any letters being sent but concerned il be waiting months with covid restrictions. How long did you wait?

In the UK, the wait between a consultation and appointment for any non-urgent treatment can be as long as a piece of string. Circumcision is normally non-urgent and so keeps being moved to the end of the list as other urgent work takes the operating theatre space and surgeon time. With Covid taking up a lot of hospital space, you could be looking at many months.

In the private sector an appointment is normally available within a couple of weeks and you can choose your date and time to suit your own convenience.

Yeah pretty much exactly as I’d thought. I get it’s not urgent so figured I’d be at the end of a long list but it’s frustrating that it’s took over a year just to this point then maybe another year waiting for the actually surgery. Got my fingers crossed it’s only a couple months though.

A conversation with your surgeon’s secretary about timing would be a sensible thing to do.
