Hi All, I’m new here, kindly assist. It’s been Day 3 post Circumcision, should I put the ointment or not? Or just let it dry?
Did your doctor tell you to use the ointment for a particular length of time? What ointment is it?
Hi, yes he told me to but did not give the time from. He gave me Nuban ointment. And it’s very hard and uncomfortable for me to put the ointment on cos it’s painful. I’ve satete using salt water then after cleaning it with I applying the ointment but it becomes moist so that worries me cos I believe any wound must be dry for it to heal
Nubian is an antibiotic and important to prevent your wound getting infected. The patient information leaflet says to use it fir up to 10 days. I would advise that you do that.
Thank you. Much appreciated.
Hey dude,
I'm close to exactly 4 days post-op recovery. The dressing I had fell off the same day of the surgery. My surgeon recommended I continue on putting a dressing with vaseline on it for 7 days. So maybe try that? And in concern to applying ointments, from all I've read so far, I suggest you wait the week at least before you decide to put anything on it.
However, I am basically the same as you, a total newbie to all of this, so I encourage you to read as much as you can on it before doing anything. And until that happens, I think you should strictly stick to what your surgeon has adviced you to do!
Good luck, dude!
I’m day 5 today, I have absorbable sutures so they should dissolve in a couple of weeks apparently. I got told it was ok to put Vaseline on, however I’ve been using the baby’s sudocrem which has a nice cooling effect so helps with some discomfort. I’m so sensitive, and paranoid of pulling anything so keeping it wrapped up in sudocrem and gauze, but sometimes it’s too irritating so resorting to no underwear and baggy pants/no covering atall. My main issue is how tired and lethargic and drained I feel....can’t be normal after a small op.
