Hey everyone, I was wondering how long you guy waited before lifting weights again after your Circumcision. Weight lifting is a big part of my life and I’m missing it a lot. I’m only 10 days post op so I don’t want to do anything to irritate or open the wound. Should I at least wait like 21 days or wait till the stitches fall out?

Yeah! I had the same issue. I did some CrossFit and lifted weight three weeks after circumcision and I was in a lot of pain. I’ve been running and lifting Atleast once a week since then. I can feel some discomfort which is why I only do it once a week! Lifting and not having sex have been the hardest thing for me. Good Luck!

This is something I asked my urologist about and what he said was to go ahead and start when I feel comfortable. He did mention to remember I am recovering so to start off slowly when I go back.

I tried doing just cardio about late week 3 or so. The first time even just running felt different because I felt weird. My stitches weren’t an issue but the rubbing and swelling had me nervous. I was very precautious at first and haven’t went back to normal until now in week 6.

Best way to think about it is to remember the recovery time is very important and you don’t want to damage any recovery. It’s better to be safe than to prolong the recovery time all together.

I think seated bench press or barbell press/curl should be fine.

lunge, deadlift, etc that put stress on your crotch area should be avoided.
