Adult Circumcision day 7 - very swollen. What do I do??

This is Day 7 after the operation

For the past few nights I had 2-3 erections a night which are painful and cause quite a bit of bleeding. My penis is currently very swollen - is this normal??? Looks different to others too? Over the last 24 hours there has been more bleeding than the previous days.

My penis just feels so heavy, I point him upwards when I’m laying down. When I get up I try and do the same but still quite uncomfortable.

Bit of background - Between days 3-6 there was a lot of dark purple bruising and swelling, especially on the right hand side. I guess this is where they pulled more on one side than the other? The colour has improved but the swelling it still a lot!

Any help is appreciated as I’m back at work tomorrow and getting worried about bleeding etc.

Hi, if you check back over my posts you will find it has a similar look to mine, I ended up with a clot which was infected so for your own piece of mind I would recommend to get it checked over, it may just be normal swelling but what I have learnt is if you are unsure about anything a quick check up keeps you mentally sane

Thanks for the reply. As it was excessively bruised on one side I went to the hospital for a check on Saturday afternoon, he cleaned it and said it seems to be healing ok. I don’t think he was a urology consultant, just a general doctor.

My frustration is that swelling is the same if not slightly worse. The colour is better, at least it’s not dark purple.

If you have already been back at the hospital since then I guess that should at least mean the doctor is happy with it. Maybe try icing it, I used an ice pop wrapped in kitchen paper (lol)

Thanks, I will try and ice it

My swelling has gone down a small amount, but it still hinders me from pulling the foreskin far enough to show the glans

Similar to me, just so swollen and heavy. Everytime I go to the toilet it bleeds a little :(

The bleeding when peeing has stopped for me, 5th day atm. But when I pull it back it bleeds, atleast you see your penis head😅😅

That’s good to hear.

I’m unsure what to do at this point... every time I put it in boxers it bleeds a little. Unsure what I’m meant to do?

Pad it up with bandages, thats what I do

Good idea, I will try that today. I have bought some briefs as people talk about those a lot after circumcision. But if I put him upright it feels like he gets squashed and that causes a bit of bleeding. Any ideas?

Thats why you have bandages to soak the blood.

I’ve never really understood the upright thing either, my urologist never said anything about that, it’s just to fight off painful erections I guess?

Well I put a bandage on it and put him upright and went to work.

Was pretty damn uncomfortable all day!!

Mine is very similar to yours on day 6. I had the local doctors surgery nurse check it out but not convinced she knows exactly what should be happening. Did you swelling go down?

Hi Mate,

Check out my other posts and you can see the journey, unfortunately going through an infection and how it is now

Yeah I've been looking through everyone's photos and couldn't get over how little swelling people had, I can't clean the cut anymore but nurse said it's fine. Think I'm going to ring the hospital and get the surgeon to check it today, I'd rather a professional. Had a few erections last night and blood this morning too so definitely think it's needed

You should post a picture so we can see what’s going on, this forum is very useful

Only after day 12 did the swelling start to go down for me. I am on day 86 and the swelling is only at the circumcision cut point. That is going down week by week.
