I did! I had never heard of it before being diagnosed: I can't say that I have learned much at all about it in the last 3 years! This forum is going to change all that,I know...
What can I say, except that it itches like mad and is often very painful! Fucidin and Timodine creams are a great help...does anyone find relief with any other treatments?
I would be interested in starting a discussion around the Psychological impact this condition has... For me, it itches and hurts to various degrees and makes me feel"dirty" and guilty... I hate having this condition

The only certain cure for this is circumcision but I've found that keeping the foreskin retracted seems to work but after a week of leaving the skin forward again the zoons comes back.
Thanks for this,Bucky85. The topic of circumcision crops up regularly but does not seem to be a " cure" so does not appeal to me at all! My GP has prescribed TIMODINE ointment; after 3 days, the itch and pain are much reduced,as are the redness and weeping. I am pleased - and relieved! - thus far.
I was suffering the exact same symptoms just over two years ago.
After visiting my GP where I was seen by two Dr's I was quickly referred to a Urologist who diagnosed Zoon's Balantitis but could not rule out Penile Cancer, which was why my Doctor had been so concerned.
He explained that the cure for both was a circumcision and then a biopsy.
Just hearing cancer I elected for surgery which was treated as urgent and I had the Op' two days later.
Following the biopsy it was confirmed there was no cancer and now I suffer no symptoms of Zoon's.
Job Done ?
Not really. If I knew then what I know now I would have tried other options before going for surgery.
Thanks for your honesty! From replies,I gather that zoon's is a chronic condition and even though circumcision is recommended,it is not necessarily the answer. I think that I will stay away from the knife!
Would you kindly join us and keep us posted on another thread? It would be lovely to share some info and tips concerning ZB/BXO: healthunlocked.com/mensheal...
I read a post that it can be kept at bay by a regular application of olive oil. I tried it, and it has worked for me for over 10 years now. The various creams that the doc prescribed did more damage than good. But this is worth a try if you are a sufferer.
After years of suffering, during which my penis would sometimes stink and look horrendous, I have found how to keep the zoons at bay.
Each morning, I shower, pull back the foreskin, wash without soap, then dry.
I then apply (and this was the game changer) a small layer of Vaseline all over the head and underneath the foreskin. You don't have to cake it on, just a small amount applied using the tip of your finger. You can't even see the vaseline after it's applied.
This creates a barrier to the skin and has reduced my zoons I would say by 95%. I can still see the colouration a tiny little (an untrained eye wouldn't notice), so I know it's still there, and I will need to stick to the routine but compared to where it was I'll take it!
