Low hormone levels-what do they mean? What is normal?

Hello all,

My first post here and I’m just after some thoughts as I’m struggling to getting answers and can’t get an apt with my gp for some time.

I have had perimenopause symptoms since 2021 but told I wasn’t. This year I have started with hot flashes, night sweats, lethargy (had for years but worse now) brain fog (again had for years but worse now) anxiety, low mood, irregular periods. I finally managed a telephone call with a gp who prescribed me oestrogen gel and progesterone pills. I decided to get a set of hormones tested by a blood test via Thriva and have just had the results. I wanted to know what my baseline was prior to starting on HRT.

I was a bit panicked by the results and have had some sleepless nights, although it could all be related to my symptoms I guess. Could anyone give me an indication of what ‘normal’ levels might look like based on being menopausal? I’ve found what should be normal once post menopause but not whilst going through it.

Just for reference my results are as follows:

Oestradiol <18.4pmol/L Low

Progesterone <0.159nmol/L Low

Testosterone <0.087nmol/L Low

Many thanks in advance
