My wife is 48 and she went to hospital diagnosed with Listeria Meningitis at mid march, she was put into induced coma due to severe case of hydracaphelec and had EVD to discharge the excess CSF. She is a healthy adult and didn't have any immunity issues.
This was for three weeks, since then she has started to get better and have been able to walk with assistance, her nausea has also improved.
She is off antibiotics for couple of weeks but we are noticing numbness and tingling in her stomach and right leg which is new sand it has affected her walking and nausea and things seems to get worse, wondering if anyone had similar experience and if this will subside by time, doctors saying this is the inflammation of the spinal cord and this may subside over time.
Appreciate any response that can help us.
Thanks

Yes I had lots of tingling and weird sensations n tingling in my legs that slowly diminished with time. Nausea was terrible but that was from antibiotics. Probiotics helps gut to heal. It will get better. It all gets better with time and lots of rest. I had to pace my life in first 3 years. Now almost five years on and much improved. Occasionally get weird sensations in legs. Yes it's a serious spinal and brain infection that is an acquired brain injury. The brain heals best with lots of rest. So Rest Rest Rest Rest and more Rest. Wishing your wife a good recovery and take care of yourself too. Time n rest is best medicine for this injury. ♥️
Thank you so much for your reply, did you also have bacterial meningitis and was it Listeria? If yes ? Were you at the same age group as my wife , younger or older, appreciate your reply.
I had bacterial pneumoccol meningitis and sepsis. I was 63 years and prev in excellent health taking no medication and fit. The nausea settled after a few weeks. It is a very debilitating disease. It does get better but it takes time and happens quicker if you Rest Rest Rest Rest Rest. Wishing you both a good recovery.
