A year ago Christmas my health took a nose dive!😊❤️😢. On the Car trip back up to New Jersey from my sisters in North Carolina, I had a really bad headache. Noise smells lights hurt everywhere. A horrific migraine. Or so I thought, I did what you do on a 12 Hour Car Trip I fell asleep, Really really deeply asleep, so deeply i fell asleep on 12/25/16 and didn’t wake again until 1/4/17?!?😊❤️
In the ICU of Chilton Hospital, Turns out I had developed bacterial meningitis and the cure was Iv Antibiotics and induced coma, which caused complete muscular atrophy and totally paralyzed from the chest down. Little did I know this was the beginning of a four months vacation in hospital setting which has brought me back to about 70% back to where I was before all this got started.
I’m back at my NC sisters for Christmas we are going to make the same trip on Christmas Day! Wish me luck getting home safe and sound! Thanks for listening 👂

Hello! The anniversary of coming down with such a major illness if quite moving. I totally understand why you are feeling nervous, esp given you will be doing exactly the same thing. I’m 4 years post BM and remember the first anniversary well. I went on a little vacation to completely take my mind off things, relax, and celebrate! Lightening isn’t going to strike twice, but all the very best. Wishing you a much happier Christmas and better year. Your emotions are totally rational and bless you, to a continued recovery. You keep getting back, closer to 100% over the next few years. My neurologist told me the brain heals over a long, long time, many many years so still lots of room for improvement yet! Best, Lorna
Hi Lorna, so far we are almost home on an 8 hr trip. It’s very refreshing to. Hear from fellow BMI survivors. Thank you for the advice. Merry Christmas. 🎄 I went into this trip armed with antibiotics. The best offense is the best defense. 😊❤️
