I think that I'm having meningitis symptoms but my family is blowing my concerns off. Yesterday morning I woke up and I couldn't stop sneezing and then this morning I woke up around 3 am and my throat felt sore like I'd been sneezing in my sleep. I went back to sleep and then woke up with horrible neck pain and then a headache that got some what bad so I took off brand tylenol which helped me feel better and then I fell asleep again. after I woke up I felt okay still but then I started having mild neck pain again with no headache then I noticed that I developed a mild fever with mild chills and then the fever went away but I went back to sleep for maybe an hour and woke up and my neck was hurting still and I had the fever again which feels like it's going away and coming back. My symptoms arent extreme I'm concerned because I have reasons to live as I'm sure everyone else does too and I really dont want to battle a rare meningitis infection. I've had problems with my neck for a while now but they usually dont last all day after I take medication. When I sit still in certain positions the neck pain goes away but comes back at the slightest movement. My face feels like tension is being released from my neck or something like when you get in a hot bath and head feels tingly but it's my face. Please help asap. I know that no one here is a doctor but if anyone is concerned with me please reach out to me.

Should I go to the hospital?
I forgot to mention that my nasal passages feel congested or swollen where my throat meets with them if that makes sense.
Nobody on this site could even hint on what your problems might be caused by. One thing is certain if you had meningitis you'd certainly know about it! It might be worth reading some of the posts here from people who have experienced the devastating symptoms of meningitis and who have indeed unfortunately had to endure the effects of this dreadful illness. The obvious answer is to get yourself along to see your doctor for a proper opinion.
Obviously I am no doctor and I would hate to dismiss your symptoms but it does sound like you have the flu or a very bad cold. I think if you had meningitis you wouldn’t be able to post something online as you would be in severe pain that your body just wouldn’t let you do anything. Like I said though I may be wrong. I am no doctor and I don’t know how you are feeling. If you are that worried though and truly think you have it then take yourself down to A&E. Hope you feel better soon x
It is possible to have mild viral meningitis and so sorry to contradict Kalirachi but you can have meningitis which isn't devastating and indeed some people have viral meningitis and not actually know as it can feel like flu. You can read more here: meningitisnow.org/meningiti... which confirms what I have said above.
The one thing I do agree with is get yourself checked out, imagine how your family would feel if it is meningitis and the worst happened. A bit late to say 'you know what they were right'. If you even suspect meningitis then get professional medical help asap. I had the symptoms for 10 days before I finally succumbed to near fatal viral meningitis, they got progressively worse and I ignored then until day 10 when my wife couldn't wake me up. Rushed to hospital and it was touch and go for 24 hours, in fact I came within 10 minutes of having my relatives called back in.
If in doubt, get it checked out whether it feels serious or not, if you suspect meningitis go to hospital. Take care, Jonathan
doesn't sound like vm when you get it a mere Panadol wont fix it … and go back to sleep probably a virus, but always best to check with the doctor, maybe your neck pain is thru the way your sleeping …. but I always have my tens machine at hand for things like that....
