HI im 12 months post VM but have had a recent relapse 6 weeks ago. Someone recommended cranial osptopathy to me, I've just had my third session today but it seems to makes the headaches worse well for at least 24 hours post therapy has anyone else experienced this? Also i suffer really bad with brain fog poor memory and have trouble concentrating, these side effects are exacerbated when I'm having my hormonal time is there any ladies that find this to be happening to them also?

I’m 6 years post VM and tried cranial sacrel therapy 3 months ago-made my migraines much worse and caused a flare up of other existing conditions for me- gutted, as had heard really positive things. As with everything, what works for some won’t work for others. X

Oh no thats awful i think thats what happened to me also i haven't felt this bad since the initial infection. Did the symptoms subside once you discontinued the therapy?

I felt very tired and a little worse in the head at the early stages of the cranial therapy sessions. But it got better. There's is much happening in the area that is being worked on. I felt much more tired and required extra sleep.

It definitely helped me the first 5 or 6 sessions. I highly recommend it still.

Hello, I'm sorry that your experience of cranial massage has not worked for you.

I can only say that it worked wonders for my 28 year old daughter. She has made a full recovery after suffering post VM for two years. She is off all meds including the pain killers, muscle relaxants and antidepressants.

Her job is working with horses on pretty much a daily basis and is very physically demanding.

This complementry therapy helps release the spinal fluid which VM leaves a blockage for. My daughter was pretty much cured after around 10 sessions coupled with actupuncture, although found awesome relief after only one appointment. Thankfully she is now back to her old self.

We can only let you know what worked for her. It's not for all, but has now given amazing relief for many. It seems the success could be to do with the skill of the cranial osteopath you use. So it is important to find out the osteopaths credentials and experience in this specialised field particularly dealing with VM sufferers, if you can. (Not all osteopaths realise that this helps VM sufferers, it is often carried out on young babies with birthing problems).

You need an osteopath and not a therapist who mearly has some training in cranial massage.

It's not for me to say, but I wouldn't give up on this just yet and find an osteopath who understands post VM and know they can help you, as my daughter did. It was the best thing ever for her.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for your reply and I'm so happy for your daughter, its so frustrating as its been highly recommended to me but i have had 3 sessions and i almost feel as bad as I did in the beginning post infection. After my third session the migraine was that bad i was in bed for 3 days with a burning pain in the back of my head, I contacted the osteopath and he told me this was a very unusual response therefore he suggested it may have been too soon after having a relapse only 6/7 weeks ago. I haven't tried acupuncture maybe that could be something i can think about next, my neuro has just started me on propanolol so got everything crossed these awful migraine subside.

Yes it was probably too soon. Try a different osteopath? Cranial osteopthathy worked wonders for me, but I didn't go until 3 months post VM. Reflexology works for some people and of course acupuncture as you say.

Hi, thank you, yes it's such a relief Rosie is much better, she's getting married in January and her biggest fear was that she wouldn't enjoy the day. Again I'm sorry the cranial massage didn't work, maybe you should give it a little more time and then give it another go, especially as your osteopath reckons it could be a bit soon. You could try acupuncture too. I've had this for various things myself and found it worked pretty well.

So the propanolol are beta blockers arnt they? Good luck with those for your migraines hopefully they will work for you.
