post-op symptoms. Tips/advice are welcome!

Hi!

I recently had a craniotomy to remove a meningioma that was growing around my carotid artery (right side). My tumour had been slowly growing over the last 10 years and caused bone growth in my optic canal, so they also had to drill into my optic-canal to relieve pressure on my brain because it was causing temporal seizures.

I’m currently 6 weeks into recovery and am just looking for support/tips that helped your experience with recovery. Right now I have a locked jaw and am very fatigue after minor activities, sensitive to light and sound.

Has anyone experienced these post-op symptoms? If so, how long did it take to recover?

hi Eyla - I had a crani in May of 2021 and I have never been so tired by doing not much in my life

I found managing fatigue is kind of like managing pain. I had to rest before I got tired, and then I could do more.

I found that my fatigue got slowly better but it takes time …. Lots and lots of time and rest. I still wear out easily but am back to work full time.

Give yourself time and lots of rest!

Good luck
