Hi everyone nice to join this platform and get an insight of everyone else’s experience with special needs . I have a baby who is undiagnosed with complex needs and currently I need to get respite care but unfortunately there are shortages of domiciliary carers, any advice or other services would be helpful. If there is anything that can benefit us would be useful to gain knowledge about and take on board.

Try mencap helpline your social worker should advise if you have one. Your local council help point information desk or your G.P.
I hope your getting practical financial help ? Have you also tried the children and family centre as they can be really helpful.
That’s good good luck with everything don’t forget the carers association for you and they do a health and well-being fund for you to have a short break or whatever you enjoy doing
You could also try Action for Children who can give both advice and financial support if/where needed
We used to do respite fostering( not sure if it’s still available) this was often anything from 1 day/night to a few weeks depending on need. Sometimes babies with complex needs. Worth asking .
