Not all social workers are useless!

Ok so I thought I would write a bit in support of all the good social workers out there . My son has had quite a few now ( he’s 21) has learning difficulties/autism/epilepsy. We always strike up a good bond with all the ones we have had , and a few times have been sad when they leave to pursue their own careers .

I just wanted to say that all the social workers we have had have all been brilliant in helping with anything we have asked.

And if it’s something they can’t help with then they always try and point me in the right direction of someone who can .

I have such respect for the difficult work they do and I know they are trying their best to get our sons / daughters all that they deserve .

I know that many of you feel like you don’t have a good one , so maybe we have been lucky .

I just wanted you all to know that they are out there , and they really can be on your side to help fight all the battles we have to go through to get the best for our special children / young adults .

Thanks for reading x

Hello there

Thank you for sharing this - it is great to hear about positive experiences on here too. It can also help other people to know what to expect from a social worker. For many people it may be the first time they have had contact with a social worker - and they can find it hard to understand how they can help.

Many thanks

Sarah

We’ve had a few good ones too. Our sons sound similar. Mine is 21 Severe learning disabilities/ autism and epilepsy too.he is now funded by the NHS not SS so we have a care manager now not a SW but she too is great . Always willing to help and support.
