Is it possible to ask to change my daughters social worker? We have had her for about a year and have found her to be very unhelpful as she doesnt seem to know any placements etc that might be suitable for my daughter , she says because she is not from my area where we live!
She also has messed up twice now our funding for things and I still am very unsure what is going on.
I contacted one of her managers who was complete opposite, couldnt have been more helpful and pleasant, however I still have to go through my social worker first. Would really like to change her if possible, but have read that its difficult, any ideas?

I would push for a change. Getting a good social worker could be difference of getting correct funding and a good placement. Funding and placements can be to be harder to change in the future too, so you want to aim to get it right the first time.
It's a good number of years ago now but I had to ask to change my son's social worker. We had to write to the existing social worker's manager and explain that we were finding it difficult to establish a working relationship we needed someone who was more proactive. It worked. My son was assigned to a much more helpful, friendly and proactive worker. WJB is correct - you need to get it right from the start as making changes to placements can be extremely difficult once social services have made a decision etc. Funding is equally difficult. My advice is to write to the Team manger, be honest about the sitution and hopefully something positive will come of it. Good luck.
In your shoes I would start by making a formal written request, and explain but don't get personal, keep copies. and use Google to do some browsing for suitable places, the Social Worker may well be very grateful, if you do most of the ground work. x
Like any Service you are able to change your mind if your not satisfied and that includes social services.
I would advice you to put it in writing with your reasons to the dutymanager@???? Your local gov. Uk Dept.
Stick to your guns and don’t give in if they try to persuade you otherwise. There is also a “complaints procedure“ if no joy. Ask them to send you a copy along with their policies, which they HAVE TO adhere to.
