Hello, I am an adult and think I have a learning difficulty that was never diagnosed as a child. I have always struggled with words, both writing and speaking, have limited vocabulary, forget words, struffle pronouncing words or say the wrong word. This really affects me in social situations because I find my mind goes blank and I only ever speak in short snetances. I also struggle to learn new things, understand and memorize them. I also find it so hard to make friends because of this. I am sure it is a learning difficulty I have always thought something was wrong.
I'm not sure how to get help and where to start? Can I get help and tested on the nhs? Even if I can't get a diagnosis just want a course or training program to help me learn better. I feel like I need to go back to primary school and learn all over again.

I also find it really hard to keep up with conversations and understanding what people are taking about, it's just so overwhelming. I do get some social anxiety about it because I feel like no one likes me and feel I have no personality. I wish I had social skills, wish I could do a course to train me on how to behave, interact and talk to people.
Welcome and thanks for posting. This must be very frustrating for you and you are right to ask for some help.
I agree with partygirlz1972 - a really good starting point would be talking to your GP to see if they can help. Try to write list before you go so that you don't forget to say something important. Is there anyone you could take along with you? They might be able to help you explain how you are feeling. Don't be nervous of asking for help - it is there job to listen and offer support.
Our helpline might also be able to help. You can email them on helpline@mencap.org.uk and they have trained advisors who can help. It is free.
