Hi am looking to move to a new area with my able bodied 19yr old son who has autism and severe learning difficulties. We are looking in the area between Bristol, Colchester, Kings Lynn, Wolverhampton; I don't drive so would prefer a small town with good amenities. Finding information regarding schemes etc that would be suitable for my son as well as activities for me is proving to be difficult. Any advice regarding where to start or areas with good provisions for young adults with special needs would be most welcome. Thank

Relocation in England
Hi, I live in Warwickshire, and I would start with searching the council's website, and contacting organisations such as this for advice on what's available in terms of support and activities, and how to access it: sendirect.org.uk/providers/...
Hello, welcome. It's an extra challenge when you want to relocate but have the needs of a loved one with learning disabilities to consider. I agree with makka pakka the council websites have information re activities and services for adult learning disability. I just googled services for adult learning disability and chose Bristol area, there were several clubs and services listed, try and choose specific areas to search rather than a general search. You could also contact the mencap helpline 0808 808 1111 or email helpline@mencap.org.uk. they should be able to provide information re services in your chosen areas. Good luck with the search and let us know if you find any useful websites that the other members may find useful. Best wishes.
I'm also planning relocation soon and need good advice
