Seizure

Welp, Ryan had his first seizure since Father’s Day of 2019. I work at our local hospital, and was at work at the time. He was at home with my 5 year old and luckily our roommate was home as well. So he was assisted. Since it was the first one in a long time I called EMS while I drove frantically back home. He was transported to the ED, where I work as well. It was kind of nice because of the “no visitor policy” was bent for me since I have a badge. He got an MRI and there are no changes which is amazing. So it was just a break through seizure. He is fine now. They are scary though.. his elbow is not in the best shape. Since he got the infusion on Monday it has been worse. But it was perfectly fine days prior. I attribute that to the Keytruda finding the problem and attacking it. So he is stiff and inflamed. Ice and pain medicine are helping today. Radiation is planned for the 21st. We are ready to zap some cancer and hopefully the Keytruda will continue to “Chuck Norris” it out of there. Hopeful :). There are currently no other problematic areas that we are aware of. He is pretty upset with the state of the elbow because he is unable to comfortably play guitar. That is his meditation and happiness. Anyway - hope everyone else is well. And anyone on the east coast - be safe! Snow storm!

Xoxo.

Kelly,Seizures can be frightening to the patient and those who witness it. How did this affect your 5 year old and roommate?

You continue to be quite resourceful :)

I hope the radiation brings some shrinkage and more importantly, functional relief and abilities back to Ryan for whom music is so essential.

Thank you for keeping us up.

Peace,

Missy

Luckily my son didn’t see it. He saw Ryan in his postictal state. Roommate dealt with it good - he has never seen one of Ryan’s seizures before but he did good. Didn’t panic. His elbow feels better today! Keytruda really irritated it. Using ice and small doses of ibuprofen once a day. Cant take too much because of his blood thinners. But it seemed to help :)

Wow Kelly, Ryan sure is going through it. So glad your roommate was there and able and willing to assist. What is a break through seizure? That’s sure scary. Glad he is doing ok.

Hope you all have a Blessed Christmas & Happy New Year.
