Hi, I've suffered from depression for a vey long time. Celexa was my go to, than suddenly stopped working, I've since tried different meds but no success. Currently on a new one I take at bed time, two weeks in but I still can't find the courage to get out of bed, it's lonely, scary and the bed feels safe. Does anyone else feel this and what helps.

Get up and get going

Hi,
I can so relate to staying in a warm comfy bed.
Someone once gave me 3 tips.
1. All you have to do is put your feet on the floor. The alarm goes off and you sit on the side of the bed with your feet on the floor. You stay there for a minute or two and it’s much easier to get up.
2. Put the alarm on a device away from your bed so that you have to leave your bed to turn it off.
3, Practice. During the day, set a timer for ten minutes and lay down in bed to nap. As soon as your alarm goes off, get out of bed. Repeat. Muscle memory takes over and you'll be out of bed before you realize you're awake
These ideas work pretty well because it breaks the connection with bed to do something else.
I still use tips 1 and 2 every day/night.
bed is my safe place and I crave it too!
I’m going through the exact same thing. I’m not wanting to leave my bed. It’s scary. I recently started Wellbutrin and Xanax. No appetite either. Very depressing
jadegirl,
It sounds like you’re pretty depressed and when that happens you feel safer in bed. I know, I’ve been there many times. It feels so much better to just lay in bed but it doesn’t help either one of us. It just makes us feel more depressed and alone. Get up go to the kitchen or anywhere in the house.
I’ve had depression/anxiety for over 30 years and have been on many antidepressants. Some have worked but poop out in about 1,1/2 years it sucks. I’m on a new one right now, still waiting to see if it kicks in. I hope that your new med helps. I also hope that you can see a therapist to talk things out.
You’ve got this. One day at a time. 🙏🙏😊
