Half Marathon Goal

My husband and I missed out on both of the ballots for the Great North Run this Year. As my first attempt at a half marathon I was wondering if you lovely runners have any alternative half marathons that you love and would recommend. Fairly flat and a bit scenic would be awesome! Cheers.

Where are you prepared to travel? From personal experience, the furthest north I have run is The Monsal Trail HM or Chester MM (I imagine there is a HM variant) or the Coast HM in N Wales. The first and last were very flat and scenic. The second is a little more undulating, but virtually flat.

There are of course many more, and as IP suggests, I usually end up plugging my dates and area into one of the above websites. I'll read reviews, and also use the HU search facility to see if any VRBs have already written a race report.
