Just a quick question: Has anyone used either the Runna or Coopah training apps?
Both require a subscription and I am a little dubious as to how I would get on with something like this but both are supposed to be very customisable and reactive to your runs. Can’t decide whether to try one or just stick to what I know!
Thanks in advance…🙂

Have you tried looking for codes for a two week trial of Coopah? I was sent a link to this here when I entered the Newport marathon. I can’t see any reason why it wouldn’t also work even if you haven’t entered a Run for Wales event…
Yes I do! I had the free trial then kept it to train for a couple of events. I like the way it keeps me on track and they are very helpful if you have a query. If you sign up for women's running magazine at the moment you get a years subscription or something like that. I find their videos for weight training hard to hear as there is a lot of background noise, but that might just be me. I just look at what they advise and find my own on YouTube!! You can change the plan to fit your week too. I chose it because it was cheaper than runna!
I have heard that Runna is much tougher than Coopah in terms of training regime. I’m on week 3 of Coopah after a two week trial (put FORDY2 in the promo box, otherwise you only get a week).
I’ve found it good to get some structure back in my training but frustrating as it’s not as customisable as I’d have liked. You can only have a minimum of 8 weeks for a HM and I started using with 6 weeks to go and it’s made a bit of a mess. I’ve mainly got it for Manchester Marathon training though so I hope it will be better once that starts at the start of January.
I’ve chatted to the ‘Coaches’ a few times. That’s a bit odd as I swear they are bots of some kind - they repeat things and all have similar sign offs. Could be wrong but it’ll be disappointing if I’m right.
Saying all that though, it’s been good to get a variety of runs in and I’ve probably pushed myself more than I may have done without it. I feel good when I’ve got to the end of a week and my mileage is increasing nicely. Proof will be in the HM pudding this coming Sunday…
Actually yes I find it frustrating you can't add stuff in like extra yoga etc but I do like the pace reminder... At first I found it annoying - then I discovered it was pushing me - and I could do it! It's helped me realise what I am capable of and joining a run club has helped maintain that.
Do you have a Garmin watch? You can create free ones on the connect app. It will even evaluate you via your watch. I use that now for my training plans.
