Edited: to add Oldfloss running the Spitfire 10k and SkySue16 running the Dulverton Trail Fun Run & Canicross 10k
Happy Friday everyone!
There's more than a hint of autumn in the air this week, so wrap up well and grab your best pompoms; let's go on a journey from North to South to give some resounding support to the valiant VRBs venturing forth this weekend.
We have some truly legendary folk to cheer on; all of whom will be racing on Sunday 15th.
At time of posting we have:
πFirst up, the almightyΒ Β Β AlMorr who will be running the Cumbernauld 10K for the second time; this local community event will see Al running the longest distance on offer. I guess it's ;just another 10k' for you Al; as our 10k legend, we all know you've got this!
πFurther south in Cleethorpes the wonderfulΒ Β Β misswobble will be facing down the ABP Humber Coastal HM for the third time; our legendary cake-lady will be running for some fabulous bling and a doughnut in the hand (which beats a bird in the bush any day of the week), as much as for the chance of a PB. Enjoy the views out to sea MissW ... oh, and the bath!!!
πJust a fraction further south in Staffordshire, our very own ode-writingΒ Β Oldfloss will be running The Spitfire 10k again; with runway repairs ongoing at RAF Cosford, this year the race is being organised as a virtual run but that isn't going to deter our absolute legend of the C25K forum. Running for a nominated pilot, we're sure Floss will give it her best in memory of all those pilots who fought on our behalf and we wish her all the very best, every step of the way.
πContinuing our journey southward, the magnificent Β Β Β MissUnderstanding , our very own legendary admin over on Bridge ( shaking off her ill-fitting imposter syndrome), will be running by the river for the tenth anniversary of the Worcester City 10K; sounds like an awesome birthday treat MissU. We wish you a great celebratory run, especially after your post covid struggles.
πAnd, almost as far south as we're going this week, we have the miraculous Β Β Mudita11 , ready for the 40th anniversary run of the Totton 10K. Fresh from the New Forest and straight back on the starting line for the second of her four races this month, I declare Mudita our legend of the month. Hope your legs are well rested Mudita!
πAnd finally, as far south as we're going this week in Dulverton, Exmoor, Somerset, we have the superduper skysue16 together with the legendary Squiggy (who surely won't need a lie down?) . They're tackling the Dulverton Trail Fun Run and Canicross, 10km. Hope it's dried out a bit after all the rain and that the pair of you don't end up too muddy!
While you're out racing,Β Β Β Shake-and-run will be organising a ladies cycle challenge - have fun too Shakes!
I think that's all from the events list for this weekend, but please do let us know if we've missed anyone so we can add your name to our shout out too!
Watch out for the October events post which will be up later this weekend, but In the meantime, good luck to our awesome racers; have a fabulous time, bon courage.
Whether you're racing or simply running, ... or not, whatever you are have planned, we wish everyone a wonderful weekend.
From your team

Thank you linda9389 ! Iβm super excited about this one and have managed to free myself from the expectation of any sort of quick time. Itβll just be running for smiles (and a new t shirt!!). Pom poms are very much appreciated and Iβll be thinking of all the wonderful support thereβs been across the running boards as Iβm running along the river.
Good luck fellow runners! Iβll raise a cheer for you all AlMorr misswobble Mudita11 and Shake-and-run ! I think Oldfloss might be doing a sneaky big run tooβ¦waving pom poms to you as well!
Shaking Pompey Pom-Poms for Β Β Β AlMorr , Β Β Β misswobble , Β @MissUnderstanding, Β Β Mudita11 , Β Β Β Shake-and-run and perhaps Β Β Β Oldfloss . I hope you have perfect conditions this weekend- I donβt think there can be any rain left after last weekend!
Hi Dexy5, update, Sunday 1pm, I have just completed my 54th 10K which was my local community Cumbernauld 10K, my time was 1:07:38 which is a PB for me for that distance.
Thanks Linda, that time 1:07:38 was on the pacers watch, my watch and the time slip I got at the finishing line, however, a wrong time of just over 1 hour 13 minutes has shown up on the official result page, that is wrong, not sure why, it might be corrected later.
I did celebrate with a swirl but not until later in the afternoon, at the end of the run I ate a energy bar, for get what it was called but it was delicious.
Good morning Linda; our annual awesome alliteration action-plan has been activated I see π.
I wish all of our HU friends fabulous niggle free runs, opulent bling and copious amounts of post run restorative food and drink. You all deserve it. Go go go, AlMorr , MissUnderstanding misswobble and Mudita11 . Hope your weekend goes well Shake-and-run and Oldfloss , you have a great weekend whether you are running or not; you deserve it π
Thanks for the shout out Linda. I did some route checking on the bike yesterday and although the skies were blue (most of the time) it was chilly. Still had shorts on but several layers up top and long fingered gloves. My fellow organiser and I felt the need for two coffee stops (to talk about organisational matters of course!). Fingers crossed for fair weather on Sunday so our lady cyclists get to enjoy the wonderful scenery as well as loads of coffee and cake.
Will certainly find time on Sunday to wave those pom poms for our lovely runners. Go enjoy the fresh autumn air, stretch your legs and bring home the bling!!
π π πββοΈ πββοΈ With the cutest of pompons we know you all will be closing in on your finish lines with aplomb!! A special shout out to my wonderful colleagues AlMorr Oldfloss MissUnderstanding but to allβ¦ good weather, good legs, good luck π
Nah .. I think he's saying he's saying .. 'How much further? Oooh,I need a bit of a lie down first ...' ... on second thoughts, maybe you're right 'How much further? Take me home, take me home'
I am βrunningβ late with adding my event π I will be a little further South than Mudita11 ! Dulverton, Exmoor, Somerset. A Fun Run and Canicross, 10km on Sunday. Squiggy will be joining me of course πΎπΆ π
I shall wear my husband's set... RAF Reserve... his father and Stepfather both flew. Pathfinder ...Lancaster and Halifax...Navigator..I shall miss the iconic runway Kilometre...I may have to zoom along the pathway across the field ! X
Iβd be in India or Eastern Europe if remembering my dad. My mum was posted all over England but running around the grounds of Waddesden Manor would be nice. I have visited fairly recently to have a look at her temporary billet π
I wanted to run in Arnhem but the traffic was nuts π
I would be in Africa or Egypt... which was where my father was... thankfully, he survived the War. Some places my Dad was in before they embarked for foreign climes, looked beautiful running places too..x
Itβs a shame itβs a virtual run Oldfloss but I know youβll be visualising your last run at RAF Cosford as you go along. Will you be taking CB along with you?
Wow what a busy weekend of racing! πWaving pompoms furiously to the amazing gang of runners out there on Sunday ,I'm sure you'll all be brilliant π βxxx πββοΈπββοΈπ
Thank you for the marvellous pom-pom waves π and happy running to everyone. Looks like a much better weather forecast all round tomorrow, woohoo πππ
Massive, huge, fluffy, big Pom poms shaking for MissUnderstanding , AlMorr , misswobble , Mudita11 , skysue16 , Shake-and-run and the inimitable, incredible Oldfloss !! Have fantabulous times everybody!!! π₯³ππ₯³ππ₯³ππ₯³ππ₯³
