Having just digested the most recent post from the HU Glitterati who enjoyed the Monsal Trail last week (hopefully they have digested the Sunday Lunch and, for some, Bakewell Tart and Pudding!), the scene moves to Manchester. All of our HU A Listers who are turning out on Sunday are running the Manchester Marathon. This is a huge event; tens of thousands of participants running from the centre of the city (around Trafford Park) out to the leafy suburbs of Altrincham and back again. 22 activity points, so lots of noise and entertainment and people! Tram rides to drop off points; Mrs BC would go there just for the trams!
The web site: manchestermarathon.co.uk/home/ -says that it is the flattest Marathon course anywhere and an ideal opportunity for a PB. So who knows?
What we do know is that there a chance of rain and it may be a quite windy too; predicting rain in Manchester doesn’t require the powers of a Mystic Meg!
Now for the important part: our brave runners;
🌟 First up we have the Kat family. This is a real family effort with Katnap running the marathon, TailChaser and Youngest kitten running a HM each in relay ( Youngest Kitten’s first HM race) and Eldest Kitten valiantly acting as family baggage handler. Lovely family effort. Relay running is an option offered by the organisers, which I think is a great idea.
🌟 Next we have Reggit who has a metric marathon to his name; this is his first marathon, but not his first participation in the Manchester Marathon (he has run a 10k leg in relay before) so he will know the territory.
🌟 Then we have John_W one of our Ambassadors who is well known for his sterling work in supporting runners embarking in Couch to 5k
Let them feel the wind from your waving Pom Poms and a blast of support and goodwill too. Have a fantastic day all, and share your joys and dramas and give us all a glimpse of those coveted medals afterwards. Heroes and Heroin all!!
From your team: Irishprincess , linda9389 and me 🙂
Good luck to Katnap TailChaser and kitten and Reggit and John_W on Sunday at what I’ve heard is an amazing race at Manchester. 🎉🎉🎊 Enjoy the experience 💪🏻
Good luck to everyone racing this weekend. Have fun out there ! Yeeeeeha! May the weather be kind, the eats plentiful, the goodie bags generous and the medals big and shiny 🏅 GO GO GO 💪
Manchester marathon runners do what you do best! Run your way.. your plan to finish strong! We will cheer you on! Whether it’s a PB or a crawl over the finish line .. you are awesome! 🙌
Good luck everyone and especially to youngest Kitten for his first half marathon. Enjoy the atmosphere and bring home the bling! Oh, and don’t believe that it’s the flattest - they all say that 😂😂😂
Let’s rock and roll all you epic superstars! My pom poms are already shaking here in SW Brittany ending up tomorrow night in SW England!🎉 🇫🇷 🎉🏴🎉and they’ll continue doing so until all our runners have their bling in their sweaty little palms,
Pom Poms waving in sunny Southsea (a long time since I said that!) for Reggit , John_W , TailChaser , Katnap and of course, youngest kitten. Behind every runner is a support network, so well done to oldest kitten and other supporting families and friends too. Looking forward to reading run reports when you have the energy. 🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️
My ankle did something similar at the start of last year; bad swelling. In my case it was a small tendon underneath the inside ankle bone and weakness in the arch causing over pronation. Very painful, but physio made it disappear pdq. 🤞🤞🤞for you.
