So the month of February 2024 is now gone and the Run Every Day challenge is completed. I’m enjoying spending the 1st of March with my feet up and no running kit in sight. 118km over 29 days, all run outside whatever the weather, is a respectable achievement, but I am glad it is finished!
The final week and a day (bloomin leap year!) consisted of a lovely mixture of runs to keep it interesting. There was the usual club track night and a few trots around the local park in the rain, but a trip to the coast opened up the opportunity for a run next to the sea and a tourist Parkrun. Thursday was a big day, a 20k walk/run on the Cotswold Hills and then the last day was a special sunset run and gossip with TailChaser , no beautiful red sky but it seemed appropriate to end in darkness.
Running every day is a big commitment and I am always surprised by how tired my body gets, even when I take care to manage the efforts. I’m hoping it will make me stronger, and, once my body has had a chance to recover, I will see a difference. Shan’t be resting too long - it’s Parkrun tomorrow!!!
Well done to cheekychipmunks and Sandie1961 on completing the challenge too. See you both again on the start line next year??

No medals at all until they arrive by post. In previous years we have had to be very patient. Let’s hope they don’t keep us waiting for too long. Thanks for your support, it was amazing having Tailchaser by my side as I finished last night but it is also good to know that out there in the virtual world of running buddies someone is cheering you on.
Thank you. I think luck has a lot to do with it. I was fortunate enough not be ill or get injured during the challenge, or have some other life emergency get in the way.
Well done Shakes. I enjoyed it actually and it felt odd not running today. Can’t wait for the medal to make an appearance. Yep, definitely on for next year too. 😀
Great achievement BFF 🥳🥳 I feel a bit of a fraud for having walked half of it, but I actually found it harder than last year to complete it with an injury so I’m still claiming it! I’m up for it for next year though 😂
Huge well done to you... dedication and determination...and sheer doggedness?
I have only run every day in a month once, for a Marcothon, one December... a thing put together by Debbie Martin-Consani of Montane Spine Race fame. I sort of enjoyed it, but never done anything like that since..
You certainly had a month of mixed weather and that extra day too ! Brilliant !
Very well done! I did it in January so I know how much commitment you had to put in. We do the odd month and think it's a great achievement, which it is. But there is a fella I'm following on Strava (I think he used to post here as he was on one of the HU Strava groups), yesterday we his 1441st day off his running streak....
Well done on completing an amazing challenge! I know there is no way my body would let me run every day, so much respect to those who do. You have definitely earned a couple of rest days now!🙂
Thanks Sandra, it is surprising what you can do , especially if bling is involved. I’m hoping after a couple of weeks I will feel stronger, then it will be worth it!!
Congratulations Shakes! It’s been an honour to run with you, especially knowing how many other things you’ve squeezed in during your month. Now for a rest xxx
Thanks Mudita, I think you might surprise yourself. Many days I only ran for 15 mins. That was 2k and I ended up sweaty and tired. Some days I went a little further but took it really slow. Your legs will feel tired, because you have not had your rest day, just work within your capabilities and don’t ask too much.
As Shake-and-run has said, the requirements don't have to be that onerous. My own criterion when I've done a RED streak was that a run should be a minimum of ten minutes to count for that day. Pace and distance don't factor at all.
Sometimes I've had to kit up at twenty to midnight just to get that day's run in!
The tradition is to do a RED January, but there's no reason why you couldn't do any other month. It might be easier in the warmer months with more daylight, too.
