RED FEB Week Two

Half way there! Oh boy it has been tough, it is so hard to run on tired legs. But we have now done 15 days of running and have only 14 left to do. This week consisted of: a sunrise run with TailChaser that included a lot of improvisation as we discovered how flooded the Rec was (not so easy in the twilight of daybreak); a spot of tourism to the very enjoyable but muddy Rugby Parkrun; two sessions at the track that included a lot of endurance but also some sprints (apparently getting your legs tired before attempting 75 seconds of fast sprinting on repeat is very good for you!!) and 3 short runs round the local park. Oh yes, and a 30 mile bike ride. Furthest run was just under 6k, shortest just over 2k.

Surprisingly I dodged the showers and managed to avoid a soaking this week, and have enjoyed more daylight. The photo, taken at the track on Monday, shows the incredible sunset we were gifted to take our minds off the pain!

I am missing recovery rest days. Surprisingly I seem to be holding up my average pace but my legs are tired and what should be an easy 2k trot feels like a marathon. Today I passed a little boy walking with his mother, I heard him say ‘she’s going slow’, everyone’s a critic!!

Next week features the Cotswold Hills, twice! Wish me luck. I wonder how Sandie1961 and cheekychipmunks are getting on?

Well done Shake-and-run 😍

My youngest used to shout “too slow” from the running stroller when I was doing C25K. Always going past a busy cafe 🤣

Well done Shakes. I’m still trucking merrily along. Combined Day 15 with C25K W7R3 this morning. We won’t know ourselves having a rest day on March 1st! All good though. No aches and pains and I’m still combining outdoors with the gym (time and weather depending).

I’m looking forward to that medal, and being over half way through feels excellent. 😍

Well done Shakes, it’s a shame you chose a leap year to do it! 😂😂. When I did the 12 days of Christmas I was quite happy to count a run around the block as a run.

Do you have to run every day or does cycling count as an activity?

If only it did Dexy! The hardest days are when I run and do another physical activity like cycling.

Well done you!

I suffered from tired legs during RED January and for the first week or so afterwards. Then , suddenly this week the tiredness went , my legs feel stronger and runs are GREAT!. Really worth those tired runs !!

Over half way now ! Looking forward to your next update.. Happy 🏃‍♀️

Thank you Week7, that’s good to hear, I’m hoping for some physical benefits. At the moment seeing my Strava Fitness Score move in the right direction is helping.

So true Linda, but it was quite funny. His Mom said ‘well you’re not very fast either’. Bless them. Thanks for your support.
