I was feeling nervous about this run even though I’d ran 10 miles a couple of weeks ago (there were a few more running buddies to encourage and support each other).
I planned the route using ‘footpath’ and 5 of us set off (1 doing a shorter run as not running the half so just started with us).
One lady not feeling well all week but said she wanted to run, got to around 3 miles and said she was walking back as she could feel it on her chest.
So 3 of us continued (one only registered for the half the day before and needed to up her distance).
Halfway round a quick photo, drink and a few bites of a chia charge bar.
We chatted, encouraged, laughed - ran lots of inclines (I was getting the blame but we live in an hilly area 😂) and got to around 15km and we all started to flag with heavy legs. ‘Dig deep’ my friend shouted at the start of the longest road in the world 🙈 so we kept on keeping on - hill at the end to our finish, ‘footpath’ was a bit off so we ran down the hill to make sure we got our 18km done.
All finished on a high (runner’s high 😊).
That’s the longest run before the half now, so hoping the last two miles on the day will be the atmosphere getting us through. 🙏🏻

Whoop whoop! Well done! That’s brilliant. You’ve broken the back of the training and you’re in great shape for your race. Is it Liverpool? Do you want a pompom cheer on the Friday beforehand?
Fab photo Dendev75 - well done on a great run! You will definitely find the atmosphere gives you the extra you need on the day! Rest up and enjoy that runners high!🙌🙂
Fabulous. What teamwork! I think it's perfectly normal to flag anywhere betweeen 14 and 17km - well into the dark, but not close enough to the end to see the light! It will only need one of you to be strong enough to yell 'dig deep' and the rest will follow. Race magic on the day will certainly give you the extra two miles ... and some! You've got this 💪
Well done, Im sure that hill running will make you stronger. When we're hill training, there is one called 'Bitch Hill' , because just as you think you're at the top, it curls round and continues up😱. 😂
Well done on your long run and training. I did Liverpool last year and it was great fun. I was worried about the Upper Parliament street hill too, but it was fine, just take your time. There was plenty of people walking it. Enjoy the race it's a great route and atmosphere. 😃
Thank you 😊 is the hill at the beginning of the race do you know? I keep getting told different things. I’d much rather get it out of the way. Then plod.
It is, after about 1 km - start at the Pier head, run along the Strand, then left up the hill past the back of the Anglican cathedral, then along to and through the parks, then down and back along the waterfront. Take your time and enjoy it it. 😃
