POM-POMS AT THE READY….PARTY SEASON BEGINS 🥳✨🎉🎊

Happy December everyone! The start of a new month already! Even though it might be a tad chilly in some parts here, there are still VRBs out there needing our pompoms 🥳

And what fun these events sound too!

🌟 Kicking off the new month are   Dexy5 and   Shake-and-run both taking on the Great Run Accumulator Challenge! This is a series of twelve virtual runs to be done between 1st and 25th December. Distance is flexible but there are special awards given for a certain number of miles.

Tree-mendous effort = 30 miles 🎄

Sleighing it = 60 miles 🛷

Snow laughing matter = 100 miles ❄️

At the end of the challenge each runner will receive a medal-meets-tree decoration that can go on the tree! Such fun 🤗

🌟 We have another virtual challenge, this time for  Reggit who has signed up for “The 12 Days of Christmas Running”. Twelve runs from 1-12 miles (or Km) to be completed between 1-24 December. This is a FB challenge so there is no link I’m afraid. But we can still wave loads of pompoms for you Reggit 🥳 Good luck and have fun!

🌟Next we have   MutleyShuffle and her little Staffy, Myrtle, who will be really getting into the festive mood on Sunday when they run the Bexhill Santa Paws Dash, a gorgeously Christmas themed 5K run along Bexhill’s seafront. Prams, dogs, fancy dress, wheelchairs, all are welcome. It sounds a blast Mutley! I’m sure fancy dress is obligatory! Will Myrtle be wearing something festive too?

🌟 It’s rare that we have a race to celebrate on a weekday but that’s exactly what we have this Friday!   Cowladyrunning will be “glittering up the city and starting the party season” in Newport with a Festive Five, a 5 mile run along the river paths and into the heart of the city. Runners are encouraged to “dress up, light up, sparkle up” and to wear head or body torches so they can light up the city centre.

What a gorgeous way to start the party season ✨💖 Have fun CL and we really hope you will sparkle from start to finish 🌟

I’m not sure how many miles I’ll achieve as I had a small medical procedure yesterday and have been banned from running for a few days so I’m not off to a flying start. There are also some seasonal challenges along the way, a bit like a Christmas Bingo card, so I’m sure Reggit ,   Shake-and-run and I will have a lot of festive fun.

Thanks Aliboo, I’m not unwell, I just had to have a treatment for my shoulder injury, so can’t run for a few days. It’s quite nice not being allowed to do lots of things - in the short term.

Thanks Cowladyrunning , I was out on Tuesday and captured 7 swans a swimming for my 12 days of Christmas tun. It’s pelting down here so it may be a run around the block when I get home.

Woke up this morning (Saturday) to find 6cm of snow had fallen during the night, 2nd day of winter, I am due to be a marshall at Palacerigg parkrun this morning, I will take my phone but it could be cancelled.

Hi Al. I guess it is what it is. No sense in taking risks with people. It is 0 degrees centigrade this morning here. No more snow has fallen overnight, but the stuff still lying on the ground will be hard and treacherous I guess. Keep safe my friend. 👍

Palacerigg parkrun is cancelled as are the other parkruns I go to except Drumpellier, it's not cancelled because it's a flat course, but the runners have been warned not to go too fast

I drove to a run route this morning and the car showed a temperature of minus 3 which was colder than at home. Eeek, it was icy cold to begin with but not too bad once I started to run. But it was my face that took the brunt. Maybe I need a balaclava….. 🥶

Mine’s a different virtual run - I like to be different 😛.

12 runs one of each 1-12miles (can also be done in Km) between 1-24th December.

It’s already gone pearshaped. I had a long run slated however, due to other commitments (that I didn’t know about) I could only get the time to slide a 5k/3mile run in. Ahh well 23 days left…

Oh I just popped on to say hold fire on the pom poms for me yet but you're already organised!!.... I've lost my sparkle so I'm not entirely sure I'll make the race 😷 We have the dreaded lurgi beginning with C going mad at work so I'm not sure I've escaped! Think I'm fighting something off at the moment so I will let you know if I make it - I've never missed a race before 😓- also the people I was running with are ill so that makes it a bit lonlier .... plus I'm not sure about Sunday's race either so that's two in question 😟 I'll definately wave to everyone else though!!
