Manchester half

It was my second time of running this last Sunday. Crikey was it cold at the beginning, somewhere around 3-4 degrees - I chose to run in longs, mistake! The temperature shot up to about 13 degrees over the course of the run - too hot!

Last year I ran the first half too fast and faded in the second half, so this time I thought I’d run with the 2:30 pacer for a few km - well that didn’t work, I lasted about 300m before deciding that pace was too slow 😆. From about 16k I had to take a few walk breaks - not surprising as I haven’t run HM distance since April but pretty regularly run 10 miles.

Other than being way too hot the run was pretty uneventful,

Finishing time was 2:23:13 (chip) an improvement of 7’21” from last year. Notably the 10k time was the same to the second, so all the improvements are in the second half of the run. My watch clocked HM at 2:21:59 and the distance I ran at 21.3km. And finished in 10,897th place 😂

Overall happy, with that,

oh, to be utterly stupid, I signed up for Manchester Marathon next April - that’s going to be a challenge, the aim is to finish before the cut off time.

Well done on the run and your improvement in time too, that’s great 👍 And that’s a very chunky looking bit of bling there! Love it!

Well done for signing up for the full marathon. Keep us updated here and your VRBs will keep to your side during training 😍

Great HM run Reggit. Speed in the second half is a reflection of your fitness. Booking your Marathon for April is sensible too ( not that I will ever rune one!). Plenty of time for cross training and increasing distance…all coming together when the weather gets warmer.👍

Well done Reggit, sounds very good to me. We had a similar change in temperature for the GSR, and quite warm in the sunshine. Great for the supporters though.

That's really good running Reggit particularly that you grew stronger in terms of a comparison to last time. A really good HM time and one to be proud of. Good luck with the preparations for the Marathon next year too. It's a brilliant one to do and an incredible achievement to accomplish. I'll be cheering you on during your training runs.
