Despair, a lesson learned, toilet oversharing and a smile

Apologies in advance for the toilet information 😳 Today was a 10 mile run in my HM training but 5k in I felt beat. The sun was shining but not excessively, still there was nothing else there and I stopped, drank the rest of my water and miserably managed another tough 2k on the way home. Actually took a Covid test as last time I felt so bad running was when I was recovering from C19 last year and I'd had a bad stomach last night. It was negative but then it dawned on me. Bad stomach last night = running on very empty but even more importantly dehydrated. After a few large glasses of water and some Greek yoghurt, maple syrup and nuts I started to think perhaps I could go out again. Nice and easy, see how it feels? So after 90 minutes and more water I did just that. Managed 6 more km drinking every 10 mins even though not thirsty. I think the other 2 miles were in there but didn't want to push it. So no 10 miles today but much happier than I was earlier and will definitely remember to properly refuel and rehydrate before running after "the runs" next time.

That was a tough run, but you worked out probably why and will change how you refuel and hydrate in the future when trips to the toilet leave you dehydrated

Well done for getting out there again despite everything LadyGault . You're not the first and won't be the last to misjudge things. I totally messed up the other day, but survived, and hopefully will have learned my lesson. Happy running!

Arrghhh! Well done for going out again, that takes some determination! it's so easy to get fuelling and hydration wrong, but the main thing is you worked it out and adjusted. Great job 😊
