Chicago Week 2

Week 2 done and dusted! There were only three runs this week as opposed to last weeks four, but I've kept up with my walking and strength training and hope to continue this as its definitely helping. The long run was 9 miles today, and I went out early, mainly so I could help my wife with our three little terrors for the rest of the day. It was way easier than my long run last week, and I actually struggled to keep my pace as slow as the target. I ran in aerobic the whole way so didn't stress too much.

Roll on week 3!

sounds lovely. These slower runs are great endurance builders 💪🙂👍.

On to next week tick ✔️

I'm looking forward to the longer runs as then it makes the shorter runs feel like a breeze!

Chuck in a slow hill or three along the way. Free strength training 😀💪👍

Fab! You probably used as much energy looking after your little ones as you did on the run 😂

Well done 👍

Thank you! I should have had a slightly lower heart rate but was enjoying the run too much!

A few extra bpm for joy sounds ok to me!👍

Good on ya! Sound like your on the ball with it. Are you using the app or book for you Hal Higdon plan? I'm using the app and I think I chose the same plan as yours and am on week 4 (I think) which had a 24k LSR for yesterday which I found quite hard especially in the 2nd half and Garmin called it a tempo run. It has a pace HM planned for next weekend and I'm thinking its a bit much at this early stage.

Yeah I'm using the app. I won't be doing a half until week 7 though, sounds like you may be on a more advanced plan than me. I'm just going to try and improve on my last marathon. Last year was all about finishing, this time is about finishing with a bit more pace hopefully!

Thanks for that. I rebuilt a new plan using novice 2 like yours and same time. It still has same for next weekend. But I have a HM on July 8th and it's probably taking that into account as well.
