Hi all,

Could someone point me in the direction of a half marathon training plan please?

Nike Running Club - guided podcasts, lots of us here use them, they are brilliant

Yes I will second NRC. Fun, flexible and very achievable. 😀

I did the NRC plan to get me to HM distance in October so it’s another vote from me! It’s really good and super flexible.

I don’t like NRC, only because I don’t run with headphones - yes I’m strange!

If you use a newer Garmin watch, there’s the Garmin coach built in, I’ve had success with several plans from there.

I like running without listening to things other than nature We don’t have to be plugged in

I do NRC runs too and enjoy music on the run but sometimes it’s just about running free 🙂👌

Another vote for the NRC HM plan. It work for me. 😀

The simplest approach is to increase a weekly long run gradually until you hit the distance (remembering to take a cutback week every 4 weeks or so to give the body time to recover).

I also like the variety and flexibility of the NRC plan, although I reduce it to only pick 3 of the 5 runs each week, as that suits my load better.

Do check the link Irishprincess has posted though, as there are lots of other suggestions there.

The most important thing is to pick a plan that will fit your running preferences and your lifestyle; if not, the plan will not work for you.

There are also links to lots of HM training tips posts which you may find useful here: healthunlocked.com/marathon...

Enjoy your HM journey, and do let us know how it goes or if you have any questions 😊

I’ve just done day 1 of a NRC HM plan 🙂. Following straight on from the last one. The plan before that was a marathon one 🏃‍♀️

Is it a different plan? Your last one didn't look much like the one I'm doing, do NRC have more than one HM plan?

Maybe they keep refreshing them I don’t get the impression the plans are tailored to the individual as they don’t ask specific questions, if memory serves

No, I didn't mean they were tailored, but are the podcasts the same? If they use the same ones you won't have to download them they will already be on your phone, unless you delete them after you've run them

Thank you all. I think I will adapt a plan I have and maybe do some from the NRC plan.

I’m going completely different to everyone else! I’ve just used the Big Half 9 week plan and it got me a PB, but there are a selection of others here: thebighalf.co.uk/training/t...
