Saw this and looking at the forecast for tomorrow morning (in the south at least) I thought of our brave VRBs that might be out at parkruns. Just not me. I’ll be in bed being very NOT hardcore 😂
Good news is that the rest of the week seems a lot drier 👍
Good luck to anyone running out there tomorrow, or indeed during any rain.

I am committed to volunteering this morning along with the rest of the core team. But at least I can put my waterproof trousers and jacket on! I’m timekeeping so my phone will be in a plastic bag. I can cope with the rain, but gusts of 48 mph?!?
It was Brian, and I learned the hard way that I should have had my hand in the plastic bag when timekeeping on the phone. I thought tapping through it would work but got multiple non existing runners. Good job there were two of us!
I’m sitting in the car in Weston-super-Mare deciding at what point I put my hardcore self into action. I don’t need to hear the briefing do I? 😂💨💦💨💦💨💦💨💦💨💦💨
I haven't run since Monday so have to put on my big girl pants and get out there! -actually, I think a my little raincoat would be more beneficial and I have to confess that I am quite partial to a wet run after a tough week- not that there has been much choice recently! Happy soggy running to you all.
I hear you. Could be worse. I stepped in a well camouflaged dog poo yesterday and it was all over the hallway before I spotted it. Yucky cleaning job required. 🤢
Yep, we definitely feel more ‘hardcore’ on return from a rain- soaked run! 💦🏃♀️💪 I do find it’s easiest to head out in the dry though - even if the heavens then open! Heading out when it is already raining definitely makes for a hardcore runner!
I’ll only do it on training days at the track and I’ll arrange my other training around the weather. If it’s raining I’ll do a gym session instead. I completely agree, anyone who actively heads out in this sort of weather is proper hardcore. 💪👍
it’s grand! 😀🏃♀️ The snow piling up under your shoe falls off with a flump. I’m not crazy about it for any distance though. Once round the park will do 🙂
Lol I don’t think I’m as hardcore as I used to be! I think even THE most hardcore would be challenged at the moment though - this weather is relentless!
I completely agree. Even when I was running longer distances the only time I would run in the rain is when I got caught out in it on a run. There is something satisfying about having run in it though. I’ll happily run in it during training at the track mind. Not much will stop me getting to a club track session.
I’m with you there - I don’t mind the rain when I’m already out. I think a lot of people feel the same way. Your track determination shines through! And you are reaping super rewards 😁 from what I can see!
I’m only 4 weeks away from my first race 😬 I wish I could control my nerves though as I get very anxious. Wasting lots of precious energy before I even get to the start line.
Lee Valley indoor track on the 12th, then the weekend after that it’s the BMAF UK Championships in Sheffield, then on the weekend after that it’s the BMAF Inter Area champs back at Lee Valley 😬
That’s really sweet of you Frenc Thank you. x I will need all the support I can get. Tbh just taking part is a miracle considering where I was just a few years ago.
I'm not hardcore either Brian, still coughing a bit from my Christmas lurgy, I'm taking Wednesday as a re set day, re set diet and get out for a short run, then I have the joys of an MRI at lunch time, but I'm looking forward to it as it's a day off work. I'm getting too old for 6 day weeks
Planning to reduce days in June, I'd like 3 a week but they may only let me do 2, and sometimes a 2 day week sounds wonderful, and it's 3 years today since I quit smoking
