Oh what a fantastic day, Lincoln 10km and a HU meet up! still smiling!!!!

Title says it all! Today was the City of Lincoln 10km, I've never done this before, and only my second race. Just as exciting was the opportunity to put faces to names for me as I met up with Sandie1961   & linda9389 . It was lovely to meet them both and share the day. Thank you ladies.

it was a bit chaotic at the start, nigh impossible to get into the pace pens,as so many people are trying to do the same. My aim was to finish with 55mins so although it was about 5 mins before I could even see the Pacers flags,I caught up and stayed with them both all the way round. They were brilliant, kept everyone's motivation up

linda9389 & I ended up running the last few miles more or less together. As we came up to the finish line,I heard LincsFM radio call out my name which spurred me on even more!

The best bit however, was I misread the result text that came through straight away,I thought it said 55.29 so I was happy becausemy PB is or was 55.35. However, then Linda pointed it out that it was 53.29!!! So I was absolutely delighted, a whole 2 mins quicker!!!!

Shame as next year it's on the same day as Boston HM which I'm now signed to do as would love to do this one again. I'm still grinning from today and upto an hour ago still wearing my medal!!! 🤣🤣🏅🏅🏅

It was a fab run wasn't it? I just loved that you were a whole 2 minutes faster than you thought - your face was a picture as you got your mind around that lovely bit of news 😍. You can now consider yourself a seasoned racer and enjoy your training for the half (which you will absolutely smash!).

I don’t think I have ever seen someone so excited at making a mistake. Your face when it dawned on you was a picture! Your and Linda’s times were absolutely awesome and your strategy was just perfect. You do realise you will now develop an overwhelming desire for shiny bling 😂😂
