This was my first 'official' race. So keen to squeeze one in before 2019 came to a close, I was fortunate to spot this yearly event on the race websites. It's a Boxing Day 5K race at Black Park (Buckinghamshire) starting at 10.00am. Perfect!
I was so pleased that linda9389 was able to join me on this race too. Linda will deny it, but has been a mentor to me on my running journey. We soaked up the race vibes at the starting line, went straight to the front of the pack beaming with confidence, and motivated by bananas at the finish line! We were all done and dusted just before the heavens opened up, very lucky!
Thank you all that supported and encouraged us along for getting out of bed the day after Christmas and going for it... absolutely no regrets!

Congratulations on completing that 5K at Black Park, your first official event race run, you must have felt very confident by going straight to the front of the pack where most of the gazelles are to be found, usually people here say they make their way to the back of the pack, so glad that you enjoyed your run today with Linda9389. π ππΎ
Is it flat? No! There is a skfndnsjdj hill maybe come over and we can practice. Iβll be working out the route and work back up to it. I think there is a map on the site
I have decided to skip the actual park running bit this Saturday and just volunteer in a role I have not tried before. My home parkrun is very muddy at the moment and I fancied a bit of a change in the holidays. I am also doing the New Year's Double event so I don't feel too bad about skipping Saturday's running bit!
Thank you for persuading me to go! It was a lovely way to start the day - esp as we didn't get soaked (though your mum must've been freezing, and deserves a medal for volunteering). Your enthusiasm was a great boost too. Good luck with your next event, and the next, and the next .... π
