The day finally arrived for my Tissington Trail Half Marathon. Dry, a bit overcast, no wind and 10c. Perfect day for a run. Bumped into a couple of members of my UK running club at the start. The route is point to point from Parsley Hay down (yes you read that right!) into Ashbourne along the old railway track, which is a nice flat and smooth cinder track. Some running between embankments and some stunning views. It is only a small field (well, it has to be given that the route is only a train track wide), very friendly and is known to be a fast run for anybody who wants to chase PBs. I can thoroughly recommend it to anybody in the middle of England. My unofficial time is 2.32.04 which was slightly disappointing, as I had been targeting 2.20, but the last couple of miles gave my hips a hammering and my pace wasnβt where it should have been. Nice bling to add to the collection in any case π Still, back to the campsite for a shower, a pint and a Sunday roast and allβs well with the world π»Look forward to reading everybody elseβs posts π

Running in the Derbyshire Dales
Your time looks amazing to me Sandie, as does your lunch, especially the dessert π. There will still be a substantial net loss of calories. π»
That sounds like the perfect HM course Sandie, and what a lovely day for it. Really well done! ππ
Congratulations to you and your two friends from your UK running club on completing the Tissington HM, lovely photo, you deserved that pint and Sunday roast, yummy. π ππΎ
Aww Sandie, well done on your race, hope the hip settles soon
Well done Sandie1961 that sounds like a great run in very difficult conditions πββοΈπ₯πͺππ
Just superbly done Sandie. You attacked it with what you had on the day and that's awesome ππππ
You did a half marathon Sandie, I donβt care what time you did it in, it was a half marathon. Very well done. I do like a disused railway line for running on and lovely views as well, wonderful. Just think how easy the Great South Run will feel now.
Great time Sandie - and lovely bling. πππ π This does sound like a lovely race - who doesnβt love an old railway line to run on . Sunday roast looks yummy too! Well done.π
Sounds like a great run Sandie - and NOTHING wrong with that time either!!! Great way to celebrate too πππ
Thatβs a very respectable time indeed Sandie. π Well done and that pud looks lovely π€€ and well deserved too!
Brilliant Sandie! Sounds like a lovely course and that meal must have been welcome. It looks delicious!
that's a nice medal π !
GSR will seem a lot easier I'm sure!

Well done Sandie! I love the sound of Parsley Hay down, wonder what the story there is π
You ran a HM, you earned gorgeous bling, you ate a delicious lunch (and pudding). A perfect day in my book π€ I mean, what else is there to do on a Sunday? π
Thank you IP π Sorry to hear youβve been struggling, but fingers crossed you can get sorted for Bath π€π»π€π» We made a weekend of it in the van, so had a walk at Carsington Water on Saturday and popped into the Great British Car Journey museum yesterday on the way home. Lovely!
well done Sandie! ππͺππββοΈπ
Lovely Parsley Hay! I bought one of their bikes yonks ago when the kids were little π.
Itβs a pretty route π₯° I hope your Portsmouth training is going well πͺππ
Thanks MW π It was a really nice route, only 303 runners and water stations with Jaffa Cakes and jelly babies π Iβm thinking of Portsmouth as the easier option . Whoβd have thought it ππ
indeed πββοΈπ
Portsmouth should be interesting! Iβve only seen it through binoculars from the Isle of Wight.
The dockyard would fascinate me π€
Voucher for free admission last year π You should do it if you can cope with 25000 runners!
I donβt think I could. The logistics get on my wick. I did Sheffield and that was too big π. No food in my goodie bag either, nor could I get a post run coffee for love nor money. Pah! Having said that Sheffield was a great atmos and the folks were lovely.
Iβve made protein balls, very good actually You can flatten em to make em easier to tote π
Sheffield Ten ten ten was a decent goodie bag My marathon has a great one! The organiser chooses everything himself. Itβll be local and quality Always a beer and a decent fruit drink for non drinkers Always posh crisps π plus medal π π
