Hi everyone, I’m so pleased to report that I ran 30.12 km (18.7 miles) this morning with friends from my running club. 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♂️
Fortunately we set off at 6:30am as it was very warm towards the end.🥵 We all felt very tired but we enjoyed each other’s company, which is what it’s all about!👍
I’m not sure yet whether I’ll do another long run. I now feel relatively confident I’ll manage the marathon distance on the big day - just 5 weeks away! 😳 The last thing I want is to pick up an injury after all the hard work I’ve put in 😊

I wish you good luck David_G for your virtual London Marathon in 5 weeks, that was a very good early morning 18.7 miles run you had with your running friends, gives you great confidence for that marathon 🏃🏾.
Well done, I think the name for easing up before or a long run is called tapering, before a long run like a HM or marathon runners go for short runs, no more than 10K before the big run.
Thanks AlMorr yes, that’s it! I just need to decide whether I start tapering now or in two weeks time. I’ve got until Sunday 11 September to decide, so no rush. It will depend how I feel after next Sunday’s outing 🙂👍
I’ve just given you your well earned Metric Marathon badge David. Many congratulations and a big well done to you 👍👏
You’re in such a strong position with your training and now this run and how fabulous is it that you're feeling confident about the big day too! Well done again.
I can’t even think about what that feels like David. 10 miles was definitely enough for me! Very well done to you. Yes a very good idea to get out early.
Thanks Dexy5 I continue to surprise myself with these long runs. It wouldn’t be happening if I hadn’t signed up for the virtual London Marathon in a moment of madness 🤣 but now it’s happening I’m very pleased I did! Two of my running club friends are also signed up for the virtual version, so hopefully we’ll run together 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♂️🤞
Oh David you are so ready for that marathon! I’ve been increasing distance and everything seems so far away my 10 mile run will start in Littlehampton and crikey that’s a car journey
Thanks SueAppleRun I’ll have a think about whether I want to do another long run. At the moment it’s 50/50 as I really don’t want to get injured before the big day!
