I’m taking part in the virtual London marathon in October and looking for help/tips with a training plan.
I completed the C25k earlier this year and haven’t been running too regularly recently so probably going to struggle. I know most plans available online start next Monday but if I’m honest I’ve been slacking and wondering if I’ll be able to run this marathon even with training as it’s only about 4 months to go.

If you can find the motivation, you can do it! I ran the virtual LM last year. I had 5 weeks notice to get from HM distance up to FM!!! I achieved it by adopting a run/walk approach as there simply wasn't time for anything else. I still finished in a reasonable time and as it was my first ever FM it was a PB!!!The first thing to do is to find your motivation and believe in yourself. Then make yourself a plan. Ask away with questions and let us know how it's going. Good luck and enjoy.
I’d say it’s important to be doing a few short easy runs each week. It’s also important to have at least one rest day a week, preferably more. If you’re going to be following a plan, then you should have all this worked out for you by the plan.
As Linda stated, a run/walk strategy is probably your best option. It generally works out faster than simply running and it’s less impact on the body.
Thanks for all you replies and the good luck messages. I’ve decided to use the official London Marathon training plan which has elements of walk and run in it along with planned rest days.
Having sat down and looked through the plan I’m definitely motivated to put in the effort to get through the distance and complete it (like Linda said it’ll be a PB no matter what). And then maybe in the future aim to beat my finish time.
