A week ago I went to the physio because I had painful calves following a soleus injury, which I thought was better. She said they were just stiff & gave me stretches and the all clear for the HM, so I went away happy.
On Monday, at school, in a room full of 60 year 11s I tripped over a bin 😭 In my efforts to stay upright (subtly!), I bent my big toe right under & it really hurt. Luckily there was another teacher delivering the session, so I was able to go for an ice pack. Didn't run for 3 days. When I did my calf was painful, but a different kind of pain.
So yesterday, with a week to go before the run, I went back to the physio. Turns out, when I tripped over the bin I achieved a 'lateral shift' in my back, which means I had made it go wonky, so when I was running there was too much pressure on my right calf, hence it hurt.
She's straightened me out and says I'm good to go 😊
Now I'm just trying to work out how to fit in runs before Sunday. I don't usually run consecutive days and am cautious about starting now. I would quite like to get a long run in before Weds, but wonder if I need to do a short run first?
Feeling the pressure!

With less than a week to go, a long run would be counterproductive. There isn’t enough time to recover from such a run. I suggest a couple of short easy runs and, maybe, a short, moderate, speed run early in the week. At this stage, you need to trust the training that you’ve done leading up to here.
Looking at your posts, I see that you ran a 10 miler a couple of weeks ago. That distance three weeks before your HM is exactly what's required. So, you're well prepared. This is the time for tapering so that you're fully refreshed at the start of your HM.
Sorry to hear about your bin exploit, you did well to turn it around in front of all those 16 year olds! In my very limited experience, I would say to take it nice and easy this week, avoid bins, and you should be fine. 😊
